In the Work session, we discussed:

  • Overhauling the ordinance about signage in the City. We are looking at Aurora’s and Northfield’s signage ordinances to guide what Bedford’s will look like. We are discussing how best to maintain certain standards while not infringing on residents’ and businesses’ freedom of speech.  It was mostly tabled so that the Council could wait on feedback from the Building Commissioner.

In the Regular session, we voted on:

  • Updating the City’s credit card policy to make it compliant with recent State law changes. (2nd reading)
  • Better defining who can get compensation for overtime and how much they can accrue. (2nd reading)
  • Making a change to appropriations in the budget to several different funds. These appropriation changes are basically grant money left over from last year that needs to be re-appropriated in the new year. For example, the SEALE grant and $150K grant to fix the valves and work on getting GIS  (passed)
